Innosphere and CO-WY Climate Resilience Engine Fund Internship Program to Address Environmental Challenges and Strengthen Colorado’s Workforce

Fort Collins, Colorado – The Colorado-Wyoming Climate Resilience Engine (CO-WY Engine) led by Innosphere and funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), with support from the State of Colorado, is fully funding an Environmental Internship Program led by ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability USA (ICLEI USA). This initiative will support local government agencies in Colorado by placing skilled interns to assist in tackling natural resource management     and disaster preparedness projects—helping to build a stronger workforce and ensure that Colorado communities are equipped to address environmental challenges.

With funding support from the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), this initiative is designed to support Colorado communities, reinforcing the state’s commitment to economic growth, workforce development, and environmental stewardship.

“On-the-job training prepares Coloradans to access meaningful careers and solve some of our most important challenges. These internships will contribute to Colorado’s leadership in climate work and natural resource management, and we are thrilled to support this important program,” said Eve Lieberman, Executive Director of OEDIT.

“This program is a direct investment in Colorado’s future—helping local governments manage environmental challenges while creating high-quality career pathways for students and early professionals,” said  Brian Johnston, CO-WY Engine Workforce Development Director.  “With this funding from OEDIT’s Federal Fast Forward program, we’re ensuring that Colorado communities have the expertise they need to plan for the future while developing a skilled workforce to sustain long-term economic success.”
