NSF ASCEND Engine in Colorado and Wyoming Launches Request for Information to Shape Emergent Phase
The NSF ASCEND Engine, led by Innosphere, has released a Request for Information (RFI) to identify prospective partners and performers for its upcoming Emergent phase of funding from the National Science Foundation (2026-2028).
The ASCEND Engine, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), is building a world-class innovation ecosystem focused on advanced sensing, AI-driven analytics, and decision support tools to address environmental challenges such as wildfire, water scarcity, and soil health. The RFI seeks input from organizations with capabilities in technical development, testbed infrastructure, and commercialization pathways across three areas:
- Advanced Sensing
- Computational Analytics
- Decision Support
“This RFI marks an exciting moment as we shape the Engine’s next phase of work, building multi-partner programs that accelerate innovation and deliver real-world impact,” said Dr. Alan Rudolph, ASCEND Engine Chief Technology Officer.
Selected respondents may be eligible for contracts awarded annually over three years, with cost-share required. The ASCEND Engine anticipates deploying up to $18.5M in funding in the 2026-2028 timeframe.
RFI responses are due by July 18, 2025.
