Pentair to provide simplified solar pumping solutions powered by SunTech Drive
SunTech Drive LLC., an innovative solar power electronics company headquartered in Boulder, announces the company has a strategic partnership agreement with Pentair in which Pentair will deliver new Pentair Pentek solar drives powered by SunTech technology. The new Pentair Pentek Solar Drive PSD15 and PSD30 models are solar-powered variable speed drives that integrate SunTech Drive’s state-of-the-art solar control platform into Pentair’s Pentek variable speed drive technology. These new solar drives are available to order for North America.
“We are very excited to form our partnership with Pentair, one of the largest providers of industrial and residential pumps in the US,” said Jeff Lints, VP Business Development for SunTech. “Through this OEM partnership, SunTech will dramatically expand our reach into groundwater applications by leveraging the Pentair distributers and dealer network.”
“At Pentair, we strive to deliver smart, sustainable water solutions to our customers,” said Bob Miller, Senior Vice President of Pentair Flow Technologies. “The collaboration with SunTech Drive provides an innovative new motor drive architecture that, coupled with Pentair’s world class pumps, will now offer a cost-effective and easy-to-deploy solar pumping solution for our customers.”
The new Pentair Pentek Solar Drives are compatible with standard, readily available alternating current (AC) motors instead of more expensive brushless direct current (BLDC) motors. As a result, customers will have the ability to use pumps they currently stock and also retrofit existing systems with 4-inch AC submersible pumps and motors. Additionally, the variable speed technology within the solar-powered drives allows pumps to operate during low levels of sun, providing the user with reliable pump performance.
SunTech Drive is a current Innosphere Client Company and participates in the incubator’s recently launched Scaleup Program for high-growth companies.
SunTech Drive produces intelligent power electronics that enable off-grid and edge-of-the-grid AC loads to be effectively powered by solar. In addition to off-grid pumping solutions, SunTech Drive’s products use real-time blending of solar and AC grid power, along with variable speed technology, to eliminate peak demand charges to the consumer and to offset grid power consumption using solar energy. Through adaptive firmware, SunTech Drive is developing a utility-friendly communication network of power controllers to efficiently regulate load operation.

About SunTech Drive
SunTech Drive bridges the most efficient off-grid nanogrid controllers on the market with Energy IoT. The patent pending designs represent a dramatic departure from the large and costly controllers of the past. The company replaces legacy electromagnetic cores and windings with high-speed digital switching silicon and adaptive firmware. This results in controllers that are an order of magnitude smaller and lighter, and allows for incorporating multiple system components into one integrated controller. https://suntechdrive.com/
